The fuel of the future is now available in Fernie! From 2010, B5 biodiesel will be mandated throughout the province and many communities, businesses and authorities are already taking advantage of the benefits of this cleaner burning fuel.
The provincial mandate will result in an approximately 350,000 tonne reduction in CO² emissions. B5 is accepted by all engine manufacturers and will not affect warranties. B5 Biodiesel blended fuel requires no engine modification, and does not cause any filter or gelling problems that can occur with pure biodiesel.
Biodiesel is a clean burning, non-toxic biodegradable alternative fuel that can be combined at any level with petroleum diesel to fuel diesel engines. Biodiesel has high lubricity and higher Cetane. Just 2% biodiesel will overcome the loss of lubricity from Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel.
The Fernie Agri-Green biodiesel cardlock is now open for business 24/7 at 1592 9th Ave, conveniently located in front of the Car Wash across from McDonalds.
The facility currently offers B5 biodiesel, a blend of 95% diesel and 5% biodiesel which is derived from renewable sources such as canola, soy and animal fats. Agri-Green plans to expand their product line as demand dictates to include marked diesel (off road) dyed gasoline, and 100% Biodiesel.
