A Wonderfully White Weekend

Bernie's Report - January 20, 2007<br />

Unofficial Fernie Report - 2007/01/20

Bernie's Report - January 20, 2007

It doesn’t get much better than this, thanks to almost ½ a metre of the white stuff in the last 2 days! Due to the avalanche risk, limited terrain was available but the early risers were treated to some the best skiing this season…. and on the weekend too! Have the Calafernians been bribing the Griz?  read more »

Fernie Factor Alert

With forecasts calling for periods of snow and accumulations of 2cm last night I got pretty excited. This line in a forecast for Fernie can often mislead most people. But I knew what this line really meant, the "Fernie Factor" is about to kick in... and it did!  read more »

Two Riders Approaching.

Martin Croteau and Trevor Hertz are back at home for the first time in a few weeks. They just came back from a trip to Quesnel where they played five games with the Jr”A” Millionaires. Croteau scored a goal and had 4 assists in the games and Hertz had a goal and an assist.... Mills assistant coach Matt Hughes tells us that Croteau “Was outstanding both on and off the ice and could play with any team in the BCHL” Hughes added that “Martin played in all situations, power play penalty kill and late in games, fit in with the other players and was a leader in the room with his younger team, ”. “His time here should open up some College opportunities for him”. As for Hertz Hughes was equally impressed. “ Trevor showed no fear and was good on both sides of the puck so he earned lots of ice time.” “We think with his great work ethic he will fit right in here next year”.  read more »
