Sounds of laughter and I swear Homer was there

What a fab holiday.............I don't know if I should tell all my friends or keep it my family secret. We arrived back in the UK this morning in some really bad winds, which made the plane feel like it was on a bungie cord (even the cabin crew turned green a bit worrying when all you can hear from the gally is "urgh come on John get us out of this" or "I feel ill") anyway already we have reviewed the stunning photo's and laughed at the headcam recordings. All those great powder shots will remain with me forever along with the knowledge that even Homer Simpson rides that hill........honest all you can hear on the video is Wooohooooooo  read more »

Unofficial Fernie Report - 2007/01/10

Craig's Report - January 10, 2007

Last weekend the hill was a powder paradise. Monday had mainly packed, but still delightful snow. Tuesday it rained at the bottom and heavy snow ruled, but surprisingly I found the actually skiing kind of pleasant, although the same could not be said for the soggy chair lift rides. They become the topic of dinner conversations for years. I remember a day at Red Mountain for instance in the 80’s when it dumped 3 feet one night. I remember it well. This weekend will be remembered with equal affection. It was a total powder play weekend from start to finish. I will tell my grand kids about streaming down Boomerang Ridge where the only thing muffling my yelling was the powder in my wind pipe. I’ll tell them about jumping into Linda’s Run from North Ridge and experiencing powder whiteout. I’ll tell them about how excited I was waking up to 39 c’s of “fresh” piled on the Jeep (But I’ll leave out the part of nearly soiling myself with excitement).  read more »

This past Christmas Holidays in Fernie were some of the best I have ever experienced. It started out great and it just kept getting better with storm after storm bringing countless cm's of fresh snow nearly every day. On the few days it wasn't snowing we were blessed with some fine bluebird conditions.  read more »
