Have a Happy Fluffy Holidays!

The folks of Fernie must have been particularly good this year, at least in some manner, for Santa Griz has been especially generous. Adding to an already excellent start to the season and the nice little fluffy surprise I mentioned on Friday, Saturday and today both brought additional offerings. While the snow today was a bit denser, it was still oh, so fine and capped three great days of skiing with my daughter. It also brought the realization that I had better get used the idea that I will soon be skiing in her tracks.  read more »

Ghostriders 4 @ Creston 3

After a convincing 10-4 win on Friday the Fernie Ghostriders won the second game of their pre-Christmas home and home with the Creston Thundercats 4-3 on the road in Creston Saturday.

The Ghostriders out shot Creston 20 to 5 in the first period and scored two goals doing it. Derek Porter opened the scoring for the Riders in the last minute and a half of the period then Dave McIvor scored just a few seconds later on the power play. Stevan Bilic and Jon Roth had the assists on McIvor's goal.  read more »

Fernie Fluff

Friday morning turned up as another day with no new snow... by 10AM nearly 15cm of the lightest driest Fernie Fluff fell from the sky. As it continued to snow the conditions got better with every run. Fresh lines of boot-top fluff were served up run after run.  read more »

Ghostriders win 10-4

Scott Traverse and the Fernie Ghostriders got a convincing 10-4 win over the Creston Thundercats Friday night December 22 in front of 850 happy fans.

Eighteen year old Ghostrider forward Scott Traverse probably didn't think of it but he broke tradition and ruined his Gordie Howe hat-trick ( a goal an assist and a fight) Friday night by getting four goals an assist and a fight. His last one was the most sensational when he dove to deflect the puck past a shell shocked Creston goalie.  read more »
