Last week
The Ghostriders won both of their games last weekend 3-1 in Kamloops on Friday and 5-3 on Saturday in Chase.... Twenty year old former Castlegar Rebel Jordan Reid was the story in Kamloops, he scored all three goals for the Riders. One shorthanded, one on the power play and one into the empty net, Reid now has 12 goals and 11 assists and is tied with Dave McIvor for the most team points. Rider goalie Devan Hartigan had a fairly easy night with 22 shots while Storm goalie Brennon Jones was peppered with 44 .... On Saturday the Riders won 5-3 in Chase. Dave McIvor scored two and Scot Traverse, Dave King and 16 year old Josh McEwan each had singles while Devan Hartigan got another win in net. Chase is a hard nosed team and that tries to run you out of the rink but the Riders would have none of it so there were a few fights and there will be at least one suspension. Earlier in the year Princeton and Chase ran up the penalty minutes and wasted several score sheets doing it and when it was all over Princeton Coach Dale Hladun (Duner) got kicked out for 12 games. Chase will be here in February and Princeton, (who are leading the PIM race with 1009 ) will be in Fernie in January. Even the fans will have sticks in that game.
Friday's Game
The Beaver Valley Nitehawks are in first place by a country mile in the Neil Murdoch West Division. The Ghostriders are fighting with Creston for first place and after last weekend were in first with 26 points while Creston had 25. The Riders also have a game in hand over the Thundercats. Creston will be here November 24th and the Riders play in Creston November 13.....Beaver Valley's top scorers are Layne Stopanski and James Neisch. ....This game will mark the return of former Rider Coach Craig Mohr and former Rider player Tyler Dolby..
Odds n' Ends
Scott Traverse was in Olds for a few games but is now back in Fernie and played last weekend. Scott had a goal and and assist in Chase and Coach Will Verner said he “was our best player”.... When this was written Lee Klapp was in Quesnel where he has has chalked up lots of PIMs and a few points. Head Coach Tom Bohmer wants Lee to stay but when this was written Klapp was uncertain about if he would stay.... Tim Crawley sat out last weekend but kept busy doing “Colour” on the radio broadcast where he fit right in. Tim has a good clear voice and has interesting things to to say... Scott Traverse and Cody Reinbold were invited to the unoffical KIJHL All-Star Team that played against one of several Junior “A” All Star teams from across the country. They are having a tournament in Trail. The KIJHL lost but accounted well for themselves and the league. Traverse did not play because he went to Olds and Reinbold missed because he and John Shaw were in the middle of an Occupational First Aid Course. One of many things you need to be a Fireman.
