Last week.
The Ghostriders got 4 out of a possible six points on the road last weekend. They lost 3-2 in overtime in Princeton on Friday won 7-0 in Summerland on Saturday and lost in a shootout in Spokane on Sunday.... Jordan Reid was the Ghost with the most last weekend with 2 goals and 4 assists. Scott Traverse was right behind with3 goals and 2 assists.... Seventeen year old Jordan Sullivan was in net for the shutout on Saturday and new goaltender Devan Hartigan was in net in Princeton and Spokane and was second star in Princeton while Sullivan was the first star in Summerland.... Hartigan for the record is twenty years old and played in the BCHL last year and at the start of this year in Trail and Prince George.... Dave King has scored a hi-light reel goal in each the Riders Shoot-outs.
Friday's Game
Defensemen Brandon Stevens played last weekend and seems to be over his ankle injury, AJ Gourlay is still day to day and Derek Bishop serving game six of a six game suspension for an incident in the October 12 game vs Sicamous. Sixteen year old Josh McEwan is serving a suspension tonight for taking his helmet off on the way out of the rink AFTER a fight. The referee should have gotten the gross.
The Golden Rockets are now a community owned team like the Ghostriders. Last year they were privately owned by the WHA and subsequently run into the ground. They were very close to folding until some people from the community stood up and took over. Golden won their last game 4-2 over the Columbia Valley Rockies and sit in last place in the Eddie Mountain East Division. Brett Robillard is Golden's top scorer with 10 points. Rockie Zinger is their new Coach and GM .
Odds n' Ends
After last weekend Fernie and Spokane were tied for first in the Neil Murdoch East Division but Spokane played during the week so that may change. Former Rider goalie Nigel Nolin is now in Golden as is Liam Buliziuk and Scott Borys. They should play Friday. Twenty year old Tyler Dolby has signed in Beaver Valley.
Summerland's Dustin Johnston and Castlegar's Tony Johnston were the KIJHL Players of the Month for September. Dave McIvor was the Ghostriders nominee for the POM. The Golden Rockets didn't bother to nominate a player.
Former Ghostrider fan favorite Jim Murphy has been all over the world since leaving the team in 2001 and is now running tours in Ciro Egypt. He had 162 PIM in his last year, hope he's nicer to the tourists than he was to our opponents.
