Odds n' Ends
Defenseman Joe Deluca was the first star last Friday.... Tim Crawley was the second and warrior Josh McEwan was the third star.... Friday's game here in Fernie was one of the biggest crowds this year at around 800.... The 800 fans saw Jason Greenwell get his second shutout as a Ghostrider.... Congratulations to Dave King, Josh McEwan, Jeff Zmurchyk and Jordan Sullivan who will play in the KIJHL Prospects Game and to Jordan Reid, Cody Reinbold and Joe Deluca who will suit up in the All-Star Game on January 12 in Creston....
At the Christmas Break
Summerland had 41 points Fernie had 44 and Nelson had 48 points.... Fernie fans see Summerland and Nelson in here Fernie January 4&5th ..... These games should be good matchups. Also at the break .... .... Former Golden coach Brad Fox and his Revelstoke Grizzlies were first overall with 53 points but don't play in Fernie till February 15.....At 1.3 points a game Jordan Reid was the Riders top scorer with 43 points and Scott Traverse was leading the team in PIM's with 154.... Golden's Zak Baba was leading the league in PIM's with 323 and Princeton as a team had the most PIM's by a country mile with 1795... Both Baba and Possy Coach Dale Hladun will be up for the prestigious KIJHL paint by numbers coloring book at the end of the season if they keep this up....Things have changed over the years so lets put this into perspective, in 1997 in the old Jr. “A” RMJHL Fernie had 3374 PIMs, and defenseman Anthony Baldwin had 475 of them, 4 players had over 200 and 8 had over 100..... The Cranbrook Colts were the grand aggregate winners with 3542 PIMS. Colt slugger Jeremy Slavodnik with an amusing 637 minutes and his coach former NHLer and Fernie and Kimberley coach Bob Murdoch, won the coloring books.... Old time hockey for sure.... Now back to reality.... The Top Scorer in the league with 30 goals and 26 assists is 17 year old Summerland Sting forward Dustin Johnson who plays in Fernie January 4th..... Bet he goes somewhere next year.....The Ghostriders had the lowest goals against totals in the league with a measly 86.....Nelson who is here January 5 th had 94.... Golden allowed 161.... Revelstoke had scored the most goals with 149 and are averaging 4 goals a game.... Nelson has played a few less games but had the best goals for average with 4.10.... The Ghostriders had a 3.30 GF.
The Ghostriders Players Coaches and Board Members wish everyone a Happy New Year
