“Bruce has played highly acclaimed shows in the Kootenays before and became interested in the Jumbo issue,” said Dave Quinn, Wildsight Purcell Mountains program manager. “His songs proclaim the need to stand up for grassroots democracy. The democratic process and transparency are being ignored in the Jumbo resort process. Recently, the resort promoters began to punch a road through the alpine without public notice or consultation. A citizen’s blockade was set up and stopped construction. We are pleased to see citizens standing up for their right to be heard and not rolled over by backroom dealing.
“Local people have felt ignored on this issue for 17 years,” Quinn added. “We are reaching a decision point and people deserve to be heard. At this critical time, we are glad to have one of Canada’s finest guitar players and songwriters lending his voice to keeping Jumbo wild.”
