Fernie grows great apples – it's undeniable. In fact, some residents have so many apples this time of year they go unused and can entice bears into our community. Check out our apple exchange board @ the Cottonwood Tree that allows users to share the apples that they do not need, by connecting them with those who do not have an apple tree in their yard. Advocates for Local Living (ALL) in partnership with Bear Aware are coordinating this project to ensure the great supply of Fernie apples - feed families, not bears.
The Apple Celebration is part of ALL's Local Living Celebrations, that is funded through Columbia Basin Trust's Community Initiatives program and celebrates the incredible people, local resources, products, and community that makes Fernie such a great place to live, and visit, while encouraging people to consider the power of their shopping and spending decisions.
