The Best of Fernie for Fernie

-Flock in to see Banners Fly

$100 gets you and amazing banner!

Spring has sprung, and a new batch of banners has been hatched. Before they take flight down Victoria Avenue, you are invited to see them in all of their colourful glory at the Banner Project Launch at the Arts Station on April 19. Come celebrate with refreshments and revelry.

“We try and have as many of the artists out for the evening and we’ve had very good support from the community for the banner project,” Project Coordinator Linda Hide explains. “It’s a great setting for all of the banners to be hanging up at the Arts Station, and it’s a great opportunity to get people to view all of the new selections of artwork.”

Tied to the beginning of BC Arts and Culture Week, the Banner Project Launch is an exceptional way to celebrate the depth and variety of artists in the community. Part of the excitement, of course, is seeing what Fernie’s established artists have come up with, but the other part is discovering the art of people who aren’t as well known. From painting to pottery, the Banner Project exposes our city’s passion for art.

The Banner Project Launch also gives you the opportunity to show your support for Fernie’s growing artist community. Those interested can help fund the Project, now in its fourth year, by sponsoring a banner for $100. After the banner flies on Victoria Avenue for one year and the highway for another, it belongs to its sponsor. This year, there are 38 banners that will be looking for a place to roost.
