Dig your roots with
Bill Bourne
It doesn’t take long to be captivated by the Voodoo King. With his guitar, Bill Bourne takes his audience on a transcontinental journey, spanning roots, blues, folk, flamenco, Cajun and Celtic rhythms. A multiple Juno winner, Bourne has been an honoured musical guest around the world.
“Music is a dance; a happy heart. Music is the great teacher,” Bourne says. “The life in Music is its power of transcendence: Music is a healing force that benefits all living things."
Raised in rural Alberta, Bourne grew up in a musical family. His parents played community halls in farming country. When the nights got late, a 2-year-old Bourne was known to sleep behind the piano. His childhood instilled in him a love of celebration, music and nature.
Bourne’s career includes seven solo albums, and eight collaborations. He frequently works his magic with accomplished guitarists Lester Quitzau and Madagascar Slim in the group Tri-Continental, putting out four searing guitar-laden albums. His most recent alliance has been with Eivør Pálsdóttir, producing and appearing on Pálsdóttir’s third solo album, Eivør. This album went on to win two awards at the Danish Music Awards Folk in 2006.
"He is a beautiful guitarist. When I heard him play, I said to myself, 'He's the one, he's the musician who will understand me.'"
- Eivør Pálsdóttir, Gøta, Faroe Islands
"A one man tour de force"..."who sings, plays guitar and writes with deep soul".
