Join is in celebrating National Independent Booksellers Day at Polar Peek Books Sat Oct 17th.
Fernie B.C - On October 17, 2009 Polar Peek Books & Treasures, local authors, publishers and dignitaries will celebrate Canadian Booksellers Association Independents’ Day with an in store book sale, draws, prizes, cake, children's games and contests at the store, 592 2nd Ave in Fernie from 1-4pm.

Independence Day is designed to show how important locally owned businesses are to lively communities. This serves as the focal point of the “Canadian Bookseller’s Association Independents Matter Campaign.”

“Independents Matters” is part of a momentum-gaining movement supporting the idea that shopping locally offers the best value, the best retail experience and the best support for vibrant, vital and prosperous communities.

Independent bookstores offer more than books; they offer an enriching cultural experience that allows consumers to feel good about driving shorter distances, keeping jobs and money in their own communities and discovering and supporting local authors and business owners.

Polar Peek Books and Treasures owner Patty Reedyk says “By celebrating Indepence Day with our community it’s a way for us to bring awareness to our customers of how important they are to us, and that their shopping here supports much more than just our store, but an important growing movement across Canada.”
