Place: Island Lake Lodge, Fernie B.C
Time: July 5, 2007 at 3 pm PST
Event Information:
Nestled in the southeast corner of British Columbia in the Kootenay Rockies, Island Lake Lodge stands alone as a hiking and spa resort destination in this region. Island Lake Lodge recently opened for its summer season with their Celebrate Summer Weekend, June 15th, 2007. As a continuation of this celebration, Island Lake Lodge is launching its new Old Growth Trail and hiking trail map July 5th, 2007. This trail is a unique addition to the already extensive trail network found at Island Lake Lodge, as not only does it travel through the Cedar Valley Old Growth forest, it offers visitors an attractive alternative to accessing the lodge and its surrounding terrain.
Steve Kuijt, guide and general manager of Island Lake Lodge explains why this trail is close to Island Lake’s heart: “Several of my summer highlights have been walking in the Cedar Valley Old Growth forest at Island Lake, 1st with my wife and then with our children now 5 and 7 years old. Our goal at Island Lake is to preserve this unique, natural and historical place for people to walk with their grand kids; for special times well beyond ours.”
Join prominent members of the community and area press as they explore the Old Growth Forest through this distinctive trail up to the lodge. Reception to follow in the Bear Bistro with a sample from the tapas menu and beer from the local micro brewery, Fernie Brewing Company.
