Kick off the new year in style, with images, music, dancing. . . and Wildsight

The Flathead RAVE Photo Exhibit opens at the Fernie Arts Station on New Year’s Eve. It features images by photographers who visited the Flathead River Valley on a Rapid Assessment Visual Expedition this year.

Members of the International League of Conservation Photographers (ILPC) came to B.C. in July to document the stunning, unprotected landscape of the Flathead River Valley. On December 31, the best photographs will be unveiled in the gallery at the Fernie Arts Station.

Music, dancing, potluck snacks and a cash bar will follow, as the event morphs into Wildsight’s New Year’s Eve Kick Off Party.

“It’s been a banner year for Wildsight,” said Casey Brennan, Wildsight’s Southern Rockies program manager. “Our campaigns have been supported by Elk Valley residents and we’ve enjoyed working with groups like Advocates for Local Living on projects that bring people together. 2010 is shaping up to be just as exciting. . . . so we feel like celebrating.”

Brennan added that it was hard to resist putting the two events together. “We thought that New Year’s Eve at the Fernie Arts Station for the Flathead RAVE opening would be the perfect time, place and reason for people join us in kicking off the new year. This is not an AGM — it’s a party and everyone is invited. Come out and have a great time.”
