Fernie Athletic Therapy and Rehabilitation

Heather Callahan is a Certified Athletic Therapist registered with the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association www.athletictherapy.org. Athletic Therapists are university-educated professionals trained in the complete rehabilitation of sport and non-sport injuries (musculoskeletal orthopedic).

Athletic Therapists utilize the sport medicine model of active rehabilitation, which includes early exercise intervention combined with soft tissue mobilization and traditional therapeutic modalities (ultrasound, TENS, IFC etc). This model has been scientifically proven to provide the fastest return to previous levels of activity following an injury.

Heather has experience working with recreational and elite athletes. She has worked in the field with many different sports in which she can appreciate the biomechanics and physical demands of each. Heather’s experience includes hockey, track and field, alpine skiing, snowboarding, gymnastics, rugby, soccer and football.
