Fernie Athletic Therapy and Rehabilitation

Athletic Therapists are registered with the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association www.athletictherapy.org. They are university-educated professionals trained in the complete rehabilitation of sport and non-sport injuries (musculoskeletal orthopedic).

Athletic Therapists utilize the sport medicine model of active rehabilitation, which includes early exercise intervention combined with soft tissue mobilization and traditional therapeutic modalities (ultrasound, TENS, IFC etc). This model has been scientifically proven to provide the fastest return to previous levels of activity following an injury.

Fernie Athletic Therapy has experience working with recreational and elite athletes. Our Athletic Therapists have worked in the field with many different sports in which can appreciate the biomechanics and physical demands of each. Example experiences include hockey, track and field, alpine skiing, snowboarding, gymnastics, rugby, soccer and football.

We use a digital scanning device (Amfit) that measures the foot from 535 different points. The computer then creates a topographical map of the foot and a visual of the Orthotic to be made. We can then incorporate the medical corrections prescribed by your physician into the digital file.

Our Amfit Custom Orthotic system is covered by most extended health plans. These Custom Orthotics are locally made therefore you will have your orthotic in a few days not weeks! If alterations/adjustments need to be done, they will be done right here Fernie.

We have 2 different densities to accommodate every different need, from running shoes to dress shoes, from work boots to ski boots or skates!
