A strong contingent of Fernie rippers made the trek to Alaska for the World Freeskiing Championships at Aleyeska Resort to show the world what they were made of. And that's exactly what they did.
Aaron Schmidt took 3rd place with 36 points, only .63 points behind the leader. Luke Nelson was right on his heels in 4th place, only .75 points back. Excellent results for these two, especially being that this is their first year competing in freeskiing competitions.
On the women's side, almost local Janina Kuzma took 2nd place. Only half a point behind the leader Crystal Rose-Lee. Tele ripper Martha Burley, also from Fernie was a respectable 21st place. Karolina Ekman did not finish.
