Chautauqua - from the mid-1920s- a Chautauqua Assembly brought entertainment and culture for the whole community, with speakers, teachers, musicians, entertainers, preachers and specialists of the day.
The Fernie Museum will be pleased to open its fall exhibit, An Immigrant Story: The Rise and Fall of Emilio Picariello on Saturday Sept. 19. To celebrate a Picariello Chautauqua will be hosted that day. Events will include exhibit tours, a curatorial address, historical walking tours, a box lunch and ice cream social, hosted by the Knox United Church, and the play presentation, Convictions, presented by the Fernie Footlights Dramatic Society. The day’s activities start at 10 am and are open to the public free of charge.
