From the Whistler Pique
The Whistler Mountain Ski Club will be well-represented on the B.C. Alpine Ski Team and provincial development team this season, with two of five spots on the women's team and seven of eight spots on the men's team, including several newcomers.
The team and coaching staff were introduced on Saturday. The athletes were identified over the course of last season, then selected after a series of on-snow and dryland training camps over the summer.
WMSC veterans Joceyln Ramsden and Alecia Willis were named to the women's team for the upcoming season, joining Sarah Freeman and Celine Rytz of the Fernie Alpine Ski Team, and Big White racer Sarah Elliot.
Brothers Conrad and Morgan Pridy are returning to the men's team this season, where they will be joined by the WMSC's Michael Cadman, Ben MacLean, Spencer Morris, William Konantz and Ford Swette. Tyler Werry of Fernie was the only non-Whistler skier in the group, which will compete in events like the Pontiac GMC Cup series, Nor Am Cup events and possibly select Europa Cup races in Europe.
The coaching core is also heavily Whistler this year with Jordan Williams and Jeff MacLennan coaching the men's team. Gregor Druzina of Vancouver is coaching the women's group this year.
