Plenty of big day old grizzy scat on the trails near Hosmer this afternoon. A little black bear scat too. |

how did you tell the difference in scat?

Black bear scat is small and has berries in it. Grizzly scat is large, has bear bells and smells of pepper spray!
Sorry, I had to.
The Grizzly scats I saw were really big, dinner plate sized and thick. There were some smaller ones that were dog poo sized which I figured have to be from a black bear. I guess they could be from small grizzlies, but I know there are black bears up there and I have been seeing the smaller ones all summer.

Small black bear cub hanging around my house the other night think Momma was the bear killed on the Hi-way.
