City of Fernie Transportation Systems

The role of a transportation system is to facilitate vehicular and pedestrian traffic movements between various land uses in different parts of a community.

Fernie strives to provide safe and reliable corridors to allow for the efficient movement of goods, services and our greatest resource, people throughout the community.

The Operations and Leisure Services departments operate and maintain approximately 50 km of roadway; 26 km of sidewalks and 13.5 km of gravel surface trails throughout the community.

Transit between the City and Fernie Alpine Resort is provided through private shuttle bus service throughout the day, and a free, merchant sponsored, complimentary shuttle service during the evening.
