Missed out on the SkiMore card. Does that mean I'm doomed to pay $76 a day (plus GST)? Most places have discounted day tickets at gas stations or supermarkets ... is there anywhere to get them near here?

In a word, no. Some of the hotels do have discount packages if you are staying there, but most places don't even bother selling them because FAR makes it so difficult and complicated to offer them.

Sometimes if you post on here, you might be lucky enough to find someone who will sell you their 'friends and family' vouchers at a discount, or you might get a snow check from a departing overseas visitor. That's about it.

I once bought a stack of 200 day passes to use as promotional items. I tried to negotiate with RCR but they won't budge. When I didn't use them all I decided to sell them off before they expired instead of them going to waste. RCR caught wind of it and called me. They tried, in a very intimidating way, to get me to stop from selling them. They weren't losing ANY money and I definietly WAS losing money. And they STILL went out of their way to hunt me down to try to stop the sale. They even called me posing as someone who was interested in buying them. It was brutally pathetic. It was odd because when I bought them they were ok with me giving them away for free. As soon as I started selling them AT A LOSS they had a problem with it. Just thought I'd share that story I don't have anything against RCR, they bring a lot of business to this town. You won't catch me taking any action to try to work with them anymore tho.
As for the friends and family vouchers be careful, you're supposed to have the season pass holder WITH you when you use them.

i work at a non RCR shop in an on mountain accommodation and the most common question we get asked is if they can buy lift tickets from us.

unfortunately we cannot offer this service because it is sooo painful to jump through the RCR hoops. Not only do we not get any discount for selling them for them, but if we do want to sell them we have to buy pre-dated tickets for each day. impossible for a small scale business that wants to help out fernie tourists.

So, folks staying on mountain can get everything they need where they are staying... rentals, food, a place to sleep. But if they want to go skiing they have to go all the way over to the ticket office and wait in line to get lift tickets.

You would think that RCR would be clammering to get other folks to take on the selling of lift tickets... reducing their staff loads, making it easier for customers to get on the hill and cutting back on the huge lines to get lift tickets.........

maybe this thread will make some waves and RCR will change their ways... who knows.

I have a SkiMore cards that I am not going to use. It has not been activated and is unused. I bought it for a family member who visited Fernie at Christmas but they didn't need it.

Will sell it for the original purchase price. $73. (69.95 plus GST)

We are visiting Fernie this weekend, and are looking for four discounted lift tickets. Any one interested in selling any?

Might be interested if you still have the snowchecks for sale.
