So i was on my way out to thunder meadows this weekend, using polaris as my access point. We could hear snowmobiles the whole way, which wasn't a good sign as i had already seen the damage they did back there the weekend before. Skiing down the last pitch before easy street, we spotted a couple guys standing in the woods. We went to go chat with them when I noticed they had snowmobiles that they had tried to hide in the woods. After talking with them for a few minutes they tell me they are from Sparwood and that they've been coming here for 20 years. I explain to them they are in a non-motorized area, so please leave....I managed to snap a couple of photos of these guys because I figure they would get identified fairly easily. When I told them what i was doing, they wanted me to give them my camera so that they could sodomize me with it....I just skinned away. So please post a link to this on all the forums and/or show these photos to the snowmobile association, so that these ignoranus' can be identified and vilified. The guy standing towards the camera beside the sled is -- he is the head guy at the line creek mine, way to be a leader to your men (who mostly can't stand you anyways) but more importantly way to be a leader in the community representing TECK coal, I would tell all to phone TECKS main office and complain ,and to "theory plus" go to the fish and game and also to the police if he has made a threat don't let this cowardly act scare you

I would like to reply to the post regarding Trespassers. I was one of the sledders of which you write. Yes i am one of an original group of four that found a route into that area about twenty years ago. I have been to many many other areas that sledders generally do not go to as well. We go to those areas for the same reason that you do not stay on the ski hill. However we have not been in that area for about five years. I was also on the original "negotiating" team that helped designate Tunnel Creek, and Fairy Creek as not open until after March 15. I / WE WERE NOT AWARE THIS AREA WAS INCLUDED IN THAT DESIGNATION. If we were we would not have been there. We were there the weekend before as well and went right to the top of Polar Peek when the freestyle comp. was on. We certainly would not have done that if we knew it was closed. And we did not do any damage other than putting some tracks in the snow. One snow fall = tracks gone. As to the particular day in question your statements are very skewed. I do not believe you heard sleds for two hours because we were where you met us for at least two hours. We were not "hiding". It was so foggy and dangerous that we went into the trees and built a fire to cook sausage etc. for lunch. We were there a good two hours. At least one hour before you came out of the fog above we heard your group. You did not see us. We walked out of the trees to see you. One of the girls from your group saw us and told you. You and a couple of others ridiculed her and asked her if she were on crack etc... She pointed us out several times and I finally called out ... then you saw us. Also from your conversation you did not really know where you were going "I think that is Easy Street etc." were some of the comments. When you and the group skied down to us you were immediately rude apon seeing the sleds. I told you i had a map and said lets look at it to see if it is open or not. I had picked up a map in the morning (SRMMP) but at 1:150,000 I misstook where the closure line was. I wanted to look at the map with you but you were rude and said no... you then skied about 20m away and were rude, and swore at us etc. before strting to leave. Yes i then asked for your camera etc and was mad as well. I want to say one other thing as well. THE REST OF YOUR GROUP WAS NOT RUDE, THEY WERE CORDIAL AND UNDERSTANDING, very polite as a matter of fact. I offered for your group to use our fire. I told you the exact route to take to get to the Thunder Meadows cabin in very thick dense fog. You led your group from the ski hill into an "out of bounds" area in very dangerous foggy avy conditions. Had there been an incident none of you would have been rescued, except if we could have known or helped. Ask any of the other members of your group about what i have said above. It is all true. If you had not been so confrontational this would not have gotten out of hand. I want to say one other thing to the backcountry skiers... This was a misunderstanding ... I HAVE BEEN GOING TO THE AREA FOR YEARS AND TRULY THOUGHT IT WAS STILL OPEN. IT WAS NOT. WE WERE IN THE WRONG TO BE THERE AND WILL NOT RETURN UNTIL WELL AFTER IT IS OPEN. I ALSO SINCERELY APOLOGIZE TO THE TWO GROUPS OF SKIERS WE ENCOUNTERED OVER TWO WEEKENDS. I realize we are all back country users and should work together. Again we were wrong to be there when we were and apologize.

Hmm that's a pretty nice apology Sledder 1. It kind of brought a tear to my eye at first.
Rumor has it that you called and asked a well known Fernie geologist and asked him if he wanted to go sledding with you up to Thunder meadows. He informed you that the area is closed to motorized traffic, you told him you didn't care and were going anyway.
By no means am I calling you a liar Sledder 1 or Barry M. .....but if the shoe fits feel free to tie the laces!

What did they damage?

they damaged the snow for skiing. And contrary to what sledder1 says. 1 snowfall does not = tracks gone. Unless that snowfall is well over a foot.. even two. And in seasons like this it could wreck it for the rest of the season.
Sleds can go pretty much anywhere they want to in a very fast and efficient manner. Ski tourers only have a handful of places that are set a side for them that they can get to easily. Would be nice if our few and far between non motorized recreation areas were respected.

Rumor is not quite right... Yes I called an old friend in Fernie. He asked me if it was open, and I said i was sure it was. Again as above we went to the top of Polar Peak where there was about a hundred people in the freestyle comp. including the RCR patrollers / first aid. We stopped and walked around talking to everyone staying there for about an hour. Do you think we would have done that if we knew the area was closed? Again as above please accept our sincere appologies. We will not be back until well after it is open ... if at all.

To sledder 1, from what I understand ,correct me if I am wrong, you are the sperintendent of line creek mine site, the same mine site that is in the process of asking the goverment and the good citizins of the valley, even the one you threatened to put his camera in his rectum, for permits to expand your current mine, correct,so I have read all the posts and I have to tell you I really think that you think your above the law and even worse that you have a problem with the truth seems everytime you write on here some one makes you look like a fool even your first letter was pretty sad to that point, it worries me that if you can not even figure out where you are allowed to go sledding on your days off are we suposed to give you permits to blast away and remove 100 of thousands of tonnes of rock and coal and do it in accordance within the law, does Mr. Lindsey in vancouver know of the incompatance of his people when they are allowed to make these kind of poor decisions, I really wish you were just kind (man) enough to say YES I did it , and I'm sorry because you could have avoided all the frustration that this has caused some people, by the way I noticed the you wrote your first letter on wed at 10:30, were you not at work then , I had always thought personal computer time on company time was concidered time theft from the company, but what do I know I'm just how did you put it ........Oh ya ,a monkey who drives truck
