All signs seem to be pointing to a new lift being installed on polar peak. right to the top. Lift tower locations have been surveyed, parts are being ordered and the old gold triple chair from Nakiska is ready to make its way here. Bring it on! Any idea how long it is? Would give an idea of where the base will be.

you people are at least fun to watch.
You will never be on this lift.
They are doing this to cut Avalanche control costs, the only ones riding this will be Patrols and friends of RCR who pay for first tracks.
Do you really think they would open this to the public and let a bunch of posers and weekend warriors up Polar Peak!
Ryland why don't you just take your Skidoo up to the hill and really show RCR , they can't do anything to you as it is Crown land after all and you are tax payer.
You could really show Robin and Dave then, couldn't you.

yes the peak will be weak most of the time but its going to rock when its open, there will be a gate that lets you get to the front face , same a delirium in Sunshine,

let's hope they figure out how to allow public access to the peak. they have figured it out in whistler, big sky/moonlight and bridger bowl just to name a few....

The easiest way down is pretty much between a blue and a black run. Very doable for most, and you know it will be groomed where most now climb up.
Also seems to me closure would be in effect when there is zero visibility, and of course high avi danger. The ability to deal with unstable conditions will be much improved and should allow the patrol to get stuff open earlier.

!!!!! exactly right!!!!!
GIVE US THE EXTREME, and no excuses about how someone may get hurt. We are capable of skiing anything you open! The dangerous part is making people wait til after 4:30 to drop into Liz Headwall. Incase you haven't noticed, it is basically dark with flat light at that time of the day. Why Fernie keeps holding back from becoming a premiere extreme ski destination is somewhat of a mystery. There are so many examples of ski areas in US, and Canada allowing its users to ski the extreme from a lift. (Big Sky/Moonlight are about the best examples I can think of).

I do agree with much of what you say, BUT, please stop using the word, extreme. It is lame! Those who are good at what they do and can ski, don't talk about it. They just do. You may actually be able to ski, but from your post you come across as a poser.

I expected the safety police to attack, not the word police?? sorry
much of Liz headwall seems to fit my definition of the word extreme.. just because it is an overused, and frequently misapplied word doesn't mean that it lacks merit. Plus it is much shorter than something like fall and die, or fall and get really hurt? which, btw, also offers a flawed description of ski terrain since you could fall and die in the ski area parking lot under the right circumstances. Extreme, like it or not, is occasionally an appropriate term.
anyway, that's all beside the point, pick your word of choice..
I just hope they don't give us years of excuses about how dangerous liz headwall is.
It would be great if RCR applied some of the funds it gains through the "extremely" high priced day/season passes to patrol/control the liz headwall. Plus, consistent skier compaction on the headwall can only be a good thing for avalanche danger?
hey, that's like Fox News quality spin.. skier compaction on Lizard Headwall will make the hill safer overall..hahah -- although, this spin may actually be true??
cheers
