non staff members, recreationally touring under the head wall, above the facelift. Both caught, both in a sketchy spot at the same time. Temps were rising, snow was heavy, crust underneath.... need to say any more? There were alot of people on the hill touring today, many underneath these two. I heard (unconfirmed) that as a direct result of these guys actions the hill, the best/only place to tour in the valley pre season, is gonna shut down to ALL users until it's open. Bummer.

first off, glad everyone is OK, so I hear.....second....way to be people......over-zealous gorbs ruining it for us all....why can't people realize that no avalanche control gets done preseason, and that standing UNDER a MASSIVE headwall is probably not a smart place to hang out.....seriously, if you want to play in the snow without the supervision of trained professionals(AKA. ski hill preseason), get some training and make smart decisions for yourself....once again, good to see they just got their asses spanked and lessons learned.

check COTR or Guides Hut(not 100% on if still doing it)
FAR staff AST courses(no one can refuse the course at a price this low for the staff)

I saw the guys that triggered it digging a pit yesterday, and they showed us the instabilities that existed (was whomfing and cracking too yest)....I have no idea why, after seeing what we did, they decided going up there was a good idea today. It felt shady yesterday before the weather warmed !!! A good pre-season reminder I guess: use the info at your disposal, and act on it. No use putting the effort to dig if your just gonna ignore what you find.
With avalanches I do not think you can not really nock or bag any one who is caught or starts one......
They are caused by both pros and Joes , as a ski town we should just promote safety first
and leave it at that,
We all just need to chill out and support our fellow mountain riders ,
This is just a good eye opener that the season is here and we all have to watch out for each other,
Lots of people out to day, lots of pros..... did any give any tips to the Joes?
We all drive cars. I like other people that drive cars. I understand that because I drive a car I could die, or kill someone. But if your out there speeding, or drinking and driving, or driving recklessly, putting my life and families life at greater risk, you are not my fellow car driver, and I won't look out for you.
