I'm getting a little tired of this. Currie closed, Snake still closed, upper Lizard closed. Yet again. I can't count how many times this season I've seen closures.

Don't get me wrong, safety is one thing, this is another.

Does anyone have good inside info on why the paranoia? Yes, I know there have been in-bound avis this year.

Come on RCR, get your s*** together!

safety is one thing, this is another...followed by asking if anyone has any info. You just said it was another. WTF? Why don't you fill us in on what it is? Of course it's safety concerns... do you honestly think they wouldn't have it open if they could. Get real.

Ease up there bombchucker. Are you from Ontario or something? Wow, just making an observation. I've skied here for coming on 30 years. By far, this is the most closures I've seen.

I'll tell you what "another" is, it's called OVERLY cautious. In the insurance industry, this is called "lowest common demoniator". It's too bad corporate RCR is now that, corporate and not a community-minded hill.

By the way, I did see the patrollers in Currie today having a great time on fresh tracks.

Ahh yes I remember the frustration Of Fernie now,

Well that was until I moved to Revelstoke and discovered modern fast lifts, an awesome free shuttle from town and an insane mountain....

sometimes the grass truly is greener! well for me at least, though each to their own!

nope, not from Ontario, and so what if I was?
Yes, there are a lot of closures- possibly even the most you've ever seen in 30 years here. But we also are barely out of one of the largest avalanche cycles in 30 or more years. There has been more snow load since the weekend at the avalanche ranch to further complicate matters. I think snow safety did an admirable job in getting a fair amount open by Monday, considering the size of the avalanches on Thursday pm, Friday and Saturday, all with continued snowfall.
Be patient telegod if you wish to ski with your safety net, it is what it is. If you don't like it, it's a great big world out there and there's lots of slack & back country. Go for a walk and take your chances with the terrain explosives do not touch. It may even set you free. I realize you paid good money to be able to ride the lifts and expect a reasonable amount of terrain open to ski, but bitching about it on the internet isn't going to change a damn thing. If you don't like RCR, either make Murray an offer to buy the ski area, STFU & wait like the rest of us, or hit them where it hurts and ski elsewhere.

I'm pretty sure this has been discussed here beofre....

Oh ya..

"RCR manages to put the damper on antother 20cm Pow Day"

Personally I choose to ski elsewhere now. Done.

Tough for someone skiing Fernie for 14 years but fck it. It's nice to ski pow on pow days.

fernie is an incredible mountain with incredible terrain, some of the best resort skiing in bc period. the avi danger this past winter has been extreme, as far as i know the road was closed due to an avalanche last week between here and elko so say no more.
saying that i totally agree with telegod, and think that rcr is bush league, it seems that most of the people on ourfernie.com who vehemently defend rcr over and over again collect their paychecks from them..

Nice call out mclovin...that's going to bring some heat:)

Won't say I agree or disagree.

Could just be people fed up with increased crowds instilling this "FAR is amazing all the time so the rest of you piss off if you don't like it" attitude.

After all the hill does get busy when half of Calgary is skiing the Bear with nowhere else to go.

If people outside of the "I know everything 'cause I ski everyday circle" knew about immenent closures because of a 30-50yr avi cycle I am sure they would choose somewhere else to ski for a weekend or two and happily return when things played out. Unfortunately RCR/FAR has piss poor communication skills in a day where it is ridiculously easy to get word out to people. Just saying and hoping RCR is reading.

Sunripe bump that up to 3 bottles, cut the price in half and I may re-consider.

PS...What was open today? If things were closed when are they expected to open etc etc. Can't find this info anywhere on RCR or skifernie. And yes I have looked at CAA.
