Hotdog day is not something run by the hill or any other official body. Wednesdays were the favoured day to make sure that it was a "local" event. If there is an attempt to hijack it into the official calendar I dare say it will be ignored and an unoffical event will take place - perhaps we won't be searched for drink going up the hill on the unofficial day !!
hot dog day is like a dormant volcano. you always know it's there. it is dangerous. then a few rumblings. and suddenly one day you wake up to massive flows of day glo running down the streets and burning at the edges of your vision.

commercial [kəˈmɜːʃəl]
adj
1. (Business / Commerce) of, connected with, or engaged in commerce; mercantile
2. (Business / Marketing) sponsored or paid for by an advertiser; commercial television
3. (Business / Commerce) having profit as the main aim; commercial music
Not sure what your definition of commercial is, but under this definition I have not commercialized the mogul smoker. I have never intended to make a profit from the mogul smoker, and although I have received very minor funding from Labatt's, I have maintained that logo's and banners be kept away from the mogul smoker. My only intention with the mogul smoker was to bring awesome music to an already awesome party, I only charged the amount needed to make it happen - try to find an event anywhere with the line up of acts I booked for the money that I charged (plus the tents, heaters, etc, etc..) No one was throwing it in the last couple of years leading up to my organizing it, it was just getting too big and too much work and it saddens me to hear people talk negatively of the amount of work and effort a great deal of people put into the last couple of years events.
I wish people on these forums would quit with the trash talk, I only began organizing the mogul smoker with the best of intentions. The Griz is my god and this party was in his honor.

hot dog day happens when it happens. It isn't in guides. If it is, then its not the real hot dog day

Like sanook says. It just happens with just a little heads up. The only sure time is it is late in the year, hopefully with warm sunshine.

I agree with all your comments and that is what I thought I knew about hotdog day, but it looks like it is turning commercial like mogul smoker.

so who's going to make the triumphant reemergence of the local smoker happen this year? It's almost time!

You will hear it through the grapevine if you are both old and local.
