The following is a copy of a letter I sent to City Hall today.

To Lisa Talavia,
Lisa, I phoned this morning and talked to the front desk they suggested I write to you, I have a huge concern about St Margerets road, I raised these concerns before, during and after construction of this road, one of these days there is going to be a terrible accident.
This morningI heard screams outside my office on this road at 10-30am, 3 mountain bikers and a loose dog were almost hit by a garbage removal truck, a smaller one hauling a yellow waste bin, not sure if he was speeding or nt, though they definitely thought he weas, my concern though is, loose dogs, mountain bikers with them and speeding traffic, on top of that, the other morning at 4am cars were burning rubber in the Siver Ridge estates and all over ridgemont, street lites have been smashed in the new subdivision and I have not seen any police patrols, someone, sometime soon is going to get badly hurt, you need to pay attention to bikers and dogs and hooligans, all told that is a bad mix topped by a complete lack of police/bylaw patrols.

What are your concerns with mountain bikers using that road? Are they leaving garbage, yelling, crying, causing erosion or is it simply that they do not have dogs on a leash? Then that would just be a bylaw issue.

Perhaps you may be able to reach a more specific demographic if you post something on www.bikefernie.ca in the forum section.

I mountain bike, as well as a huge percentage of the population here in Fernie. I'm sure the last thing we (as a group) want to do is piss anybody off. So let's try to make this better for you.

That corner is definitely a deadly one!

a trail built on the outside of that corner would go a long way in preventing potential accidents there for sure!

I think what Dave is saying is that its a blind corner and mountain bikers coming around don't stand a chance against a truck with a full load of garbage when they meet coming around that corner. Knowing Dave, if he wanted to keep anyone off that road it would be the vehicles, not the bikes. The guy just wants a decent nights sleep. Its a common spot for hooligans to tear off in there noisy vehicles.
