Barney's story has really affected me and I never want to be a part of some other dog's tragedy because I became complacent about roaming dogs. I have decided that whenever I come across a roaming dog in Fernie with no ID, I am picking them up and surrendering them to the bylaw officer. If they have ID I'll still pick them up but I'll get ahold of the owner and they will save some money.

So owners of dogs in Fernie who wander get some ID- free tags can be linked through the ferniepets.ca website, you can buy them locally at barkside pets, you can have them made on the spot at Top Crop in cranbrook, you can write your number on their fabric color with a sharpie.

Better yet try to curb the wandering-it is a bylaw violation and has helped create alot of animosity in this community towards all dogs
