You would think that for a company that is so concerned about the safety of their guests (no terrain parks) That RCR would put pads on the lift towers of their beginner run.

3 days ago I watched a skier slide at speed down shaky's acres while just missing one of the towers and it's lack of effective padding. My friend from Whistler commented on the lack of protection after witnessing the yard sale. Just sayin'

Maybe they ought to pad all the trees on the gladed runs too...just for safety!

Not a bad point considering many people have had accidents with towers including a young girl from calgary who was killed at fernie after running into a lift tower. Trees are one thing but towers tend to be in the middle of wide open slopes where people are skiing fast. Besides having more pads would give the voly patrollers something to do when they show up on the weekends. They have to raise them up as the snowpack increases. Lets face it tho RCR took out the terrain park because it cost money to maintain and its all about the bottem line.

If u would actually look around, you would notice that there are tower pads placed on all the towers, including the haulback, and the power poles on power trip and timber trail. Show me where there is a tower with out a tower pad.

Often on big powder days I have seen patrollers skiing lift lines and raising the pads on the towers. People need to take safety into their own hands and not rip full speed by lift towers. Pad or no pad it is still going to hurt.

sorry i guess i ws wrong. i thought i heard about a young girl who was killed but mb just injured? i do think patrol does a good job and believe people need to be able to ski in control. but it is fun busting balls on rcr.

This past weekend the Ski Club and Wees Club had a Mountain Safety Day with the patrol and met Mojo. I was really pleased that they organized this and that they talked to the kids about general safety on the hill.
