We have to STOP BP from initiating a Coalbed Methane Extraction program in our backyards! Not just for our own sake, but we have to protect this area for everyone on this planet, it is one of the last great wild areas in Canada!
Don't make it easy for them in any way, ignore their requests to try to "work with your organization". If you are a contractor, DO NOT WORK WITH THEM! If you are currently working for them QUIT!
THIS IS AN EVIL CORPORATION!
- BP was named one of the "ten worst corporations" in both 2001 and 2006 based on its environmental and human rights records.
- In 1991 BP was cited as the most polluting company in the US based on EPA toxic release data.
- Greenpeace International named BP one of Scotland's two largest polluters in 1992.
- Since branding itself an environmentally sound corporation in 1997, BP has been charged with burning polluted gases at its Ohio refinery (for which it was fined $1.7 million), and in in July 2000 BP paid a $10 million fine to the EPA for its management of it US refineries.
- According to PIRG research, between January 1997 and March 1998, BP was responsible for 104 oil spills. If one combines BP's own emissions with the emissions of the products it sells, then BP's emissions are greater than those of Central America, Canada or Britain COMBINED.

I don't think that our chamber of commerce should be doing anything to make it easy for BP to do business here, or even give them the idea that there business will be welcome here.
I would imagine most chamber members would agree that the chamber should not be making BP's business process here at all easy.

Is that the 3 sisters in the far background of the panorama, I'm guessing it is. That country out there is sacred and should be left alone .NO more roads,no more clearcuts ,it's already abused by us recreating , me included.

I am a new member so excuse late entrance into this conversation. What is the issue around coal bed methane? It is possible release into the atmosphere or does it harm land?
