Sad to even have to report this.

Last Night on Mcleod Ave. in West Fernie a few of us had our vehicles broken into and had some stuff stolen. The big thing being my purple 16gb Ipod Nano along with my FM transmitter. The other guys just had some change and sunglasses stolen.

We have never even felt it necessary to lock up any of our stuff this far out. We always lock up our stuff downtown and stuff, but this far out in West Fernie? What the heck is going on here???

If you know anyone who has come into owning or tries to sell you a slightly beat up purple ipod nano please give us a call @ 250.278.0333. I had some really rare and hard to find tracks on there, that I am going to miss. Plus it's my freaking ipod. I hope karma catches you and comes down hard on you, whoever you are.

Same thing in Ridgemont, a few days ago 3 out of 4 vehicles in our DRIVEWAY were broken into, some change, tapes? (weird) flashlights and tools were taken. They were parked in the driveway, on a Wednesday. Sad to see Fernie going this way, bikes and vehicles. but seriously, did the 80 cents they took get them that much further in life? or the tapes that they probably thru into the trees?

Same deal in downtown area. Apparently there were 14 complaints given to RCMP regarding 1 night. Lock up your vehicles.

The all to familiar MO. Kids going around town checking every car to see if it is locked or not. If it is not locked, it is seen as fair game. Goes through phases depending on what the current crop of kids are into. One year it is vandalism, another it might be parties that wreck houses, other years nothing. Sorry if I offend anyone, but thats pretty much the story based on probability.

Why would anyone leave their vehicles unlocked is my question? that's kind of asking for it.

i caught a kid in the ford car lot last week with a sizable rock denting in the doors of the new trucks. i have approached this kid before about other break-ins and he has given up some of his friends but there isnt alot you can do unless you catch them. he did get arrested that night. i figured it was the better option cause trying to teach him a lesson myself was only going to get me in trouble.

I left my truck open one night last week in the Annex and all my CD's got stolen. Pretty bad this stuff is happening.

us too..we got ripped off on Beach Ave..the kids must be partially retarded though as they stole our satellite radios which once deactivated can't be used..we put up video cameras now and have seen a couple more since..

except for the person who caught the perpetrator in the Ford lot, how do we know it's kids? there's a lot of great kids in Fernie, and that goes for local kids and the seasonal people.

sorry to hear people are getting ripped off... not cool.

Again...at least 90% of this problem would disappear if people locked their vehicles when unattended. Would you leave your house unlocked at night?...For the life of me I can't understand why people don't lock their vehicles, other than if they forgot to. Explain the rationale behind not locking them up.
