Why do we tolerate the golf courses, now that we know how much they pollute our environment? the rich in government make us pay an unfair emissions tax(repairs to older cars)while the rich buy new cars and get passes on emissions repair taxes and then go play golf. You know this question exposes the dirty truth of it all. Now people don't want me to use pesticides on my lawn but no one seems to mind it on the golf courses and even want more golf courses in the near future. My favorite quote is "PLease no coal bed methane in my backyard....when's the new golf course gonna be ready?" Seems crazy to me.....

Why do we tolerate ski hills? Are they not just a series of clear cuts through a natural wildlife corridor. Who and what powers the lifts skier girl? Just as many "rich" driving to the hill every year. Your hypocrasy knows no bounds.

It comes from the city water supply. We are watering the golf course with treated potable water. Yep just a little nutty.

Well STEVE if you actually knew me you would know that I have never bought a ski pass from RCR and I only travel up hill to ski by my own powers... I agree ski hills are harsh polluters and choose not to use them. Unlike you I talk the talk and walk the walk... Your hypocrasy knows no bounds... Next time don't jump to conclusions about someone you don't know.. and you won't look so stupid on the internet where everybody can see... And looking back through your posts it doesn't look like the first time...

treated potable water, are you serious?! i thought it must have been water from the mighty mighty elk. so who pays for the potable treated water to water the greens? me and you? does any other golf course in canada do this?

oh and a big thanks to steve for dumming down this discussion.... it keeps me comming back for more....

Yes, seriously. I do believe there is something going on to address this though.

well it turns out i owe skiergirl an apology. Apparently she walks the walk and talks the talk! Someone who never uses ski hills or their lifts, no cats or sleds, just under their own power, walkin up every time!. Very comendable. I suppose you never use anything that pollutes, whether it be golf courses or ski hills. Unfortunately the fact that i don't know you means that it is very hard to beleive anything you say. You can say what you like about me personally or my posts. I still think it is ridiculous to eliminate or condem a golf course for the reasons mentioned.Ours is a community owned and operated golf course, for the people of fernie. It brings in revenue and tourist dollars all summer and is heavily used in the winter by xcountry enthusiasts.

As far as I know the golf course does use well water and water from its hazards along with city water in its irrigation.

All the naysayers here should visit ray and the staff at the maintenance yard, they are a very dedicated bunch! Not only to the golf course but to the enviroment as well.

Oh and by the way skiergirl, i was hardly jumping to conclusions when you post under the name that you do ...no?
