Call me snoopy, or just plain bored, but does anyone know what went down at the Raging Elk last night? Friday night around 7 there were cops/fire/ambulance there. Anyone know?

Hi CS86,
This incident was not related to The Raging Elk. Unfortunately a cyclist got hit by a car & because he got thrown into the air by the car, precautionary measures were taken into effect. I hope he is okay and if he is not we wish him a speedy recovery.

Kind of funny, I was looking for something else, and clicked on here because I wanted to know what happened at The Raging Elk. That's when I realised it was about me. I would be the guy that got by a vehicle (it was a truck, for the record, haha). It was an older gentleman who didn't see me. I was headed to the gym, he turned into the furniture store parking lot in front of me without signaling. I was sent over the hood, pulled a full ragdoll front flip and landed 13 feet away from where I was hit. Still suffering from post-concussion syndrome, lost most of the feeling in the left side of my face, stretched a bunch of ligaments out in my shoulder and screwed up my back. At least the facial scars make me look tough. Pretty much mostly ok though, it could have been worse. Kodiak, thank-you for the well wishes. The recovery hasn't been speedy, but it's been steady. Now you know. As far as I know there were no witnesses, but if there were, I'd like to hear what they saw.

Glad to hear you're alive and progressing.

As a motorcyclist on the over-crowded roads of the UK, I've heard on numerous occasions "Sorry, I just didn't see you, mate" as I screech to a halt in front of their driver's door when they pull out from a junction without looking -- these people should be made to repeat their hazard observation tests and get new glasses. It's old and young, men and women. Actually I made a woman cry a lot once when I went over her hood; thankfully no damage to me though her car didn't look too good with my ole motorbike planted in it.

Good luck with the ongoing recovery! Out of interest, were you wearing a helmet? I figure you were as you're still with us.

look left, look right, look bike.

They started this ad campaign in Australia due to cars v's bikes climbing. most drivers don't look for a bike.

Pretty much the only decent thing about the UK is our 'Think!' campaign for cyclists and bikers. They create some awesome TV ads... check these out:
