They wont be able to open the lifts before the posted date. Any ski resort pays for insurance to cover guests from a set opening date, and i believe it is quite expensive to bring that date forward.

that seems to be the flaw in the way they think, its always about how much money it will cost them, not how much money they could make if they did something bold that actually brought in more skier visits.
you gotta spend some money if you want to make money
I am not sure if you have noticed Sanook, but when the ski hill does open, it's usually dead until Christmas time. It's just a reality that people don't start vacationing until that time. If FAR opens early they wouldn't be "spending money to make money", they would just plain be losing money. Not a smart way to run a business. Maybe it's different in Whistler or Red, why don't you go check it out. Stay there too. I am sure they are absolutely perfect.

Fernie Snow Valley used to do it, Whistler does it when possible. I've seen red resort open early...... it can be done.

Yes it can be done, but it costs a lot of money. Do you really think RCR is going too open early if it costs them money????

I hope they don't open early. If there is snow, my bet is that the hill will be busy anyway. My best turns last year was when white pass was closed.
