Melanie MacVoy is a local Fernie painter whose art work primarily focuses on the symbolic and human qualities of Cedar Valley's Old Growth Cedar trees. Acrylic paints serve as an expressive fast-paced medium for her original compositions with a unique perspective. Her “breathtaking” sometimes “dizzying” canvases are recognized for their vibrant earth tones and rich textures while “invoking a truly serene feeling” in others. Her art work can be viewed at Island Lake Lodge and the Fernie Arts Co-op, downtown Fernie (beside the Polar Peaks Bookstore).
