Summer Projects Will Enhance Winter Skiing Conditions

· Blasting: Fernie Alpine Resort is focusing on blasting a couple areas to improve cat track access and open up terrain. Areas of focus include the Lizard Bowl lower traverse, and the top and bottom of Currie Bowl.

· Summer Brush Cutting / Glading: $200,000 has been invested in summer glading projects, making Fernie’s terrific tree skiing even better. Targeted areas included: Steep and Deep, Siberia Ridge Trees, Big Bang/Mitchy Chutes, Lynda’s Run, Surprise Trees, Cedar Bowl, Currie Glades, Alligator Glades, and Currie Gully.

Snowmaking Enhancements: The addition of two new tower mounts on the Timber Bowl side will provide excellent early and late season coverage from the Timber Trail and Meadow ski runs near the base.

Lost Boys Café – Additional New Washrooms: Last season we welcomed The Lost Boys Café, Fernie’s mountaintop lodge with spectacular scenery and a great atmosphere. This year, look forward to expanded, heated washroom facilities at this popular on mountain meeting point.

Fernie Alpine Resort Launches $150,000 Community Summit Fund: The Resort has committed to supporting and developing the local community with the launch of a $150,000 fund that provides cash grants to local community organizations and groups over the next 5 years. New Kids’ Lunchroom: This year, a kids lunchroom for the Fernie Alpine Resort Winter Sports School program participants is being built at the Winter Sports School. This facility will allow even more kids to get involved with the program, and provide them with their own space to call “home” at the mountain.

Mountain Signage: With over 2500 acres of spectacular terrain, Fernie has lots to explore! Continued investment is being made in mountain signage, so that you can make your way around the mountain as easily as the locals! (Well, almost).
